There is nothing cuter than when those first little new baby teeth start to poke through, there are usually a few upset days and then before you know it you tiny baby has teeth! But how do you care for those new teeth and help to make sure your child grows up knowing how best to look after them too. Follow our three simple steps to get you started on this new journey and don't forget you can always contact us for any further help or information you need.
1. Brush their teeth twice a day
The same as you those little teeth need brushing twice a day, ideally once in the morning after breakfast and then again in the evening after their last bottle. My little boy loves to brush his teeth in the morning, we brush mine first and then his. Encourage them to hold the brush too and then as they get bigger they will be used to teeth brushing as part of their routine.
2. Avoid sugar in food and sugary drinks
Some sugar in your babies diet is inevitable, especially natural sugar from their milk or from fruits however it is important to avoid adding additional sugar to their food. Encourage them to drink water rather than squash or juice.
3. Take them to the dentist
This one may seem a little silly, after all what can the dentist do with those first tiny teeth. Taking your baby to the dentist is to help reduce fear later and get them used to all of the sights, sounds and smells. They can meet your dentist, and you can ask any questions that you have about care of their baby teeth.
